CFP | Connections and Reconnections in Irish Studies, Canadian Association for Irish Studies, 27-30 juin 2017

Le congrès de CAIS aura lieu à Derry en Irlande du Nord, du 27-30 juin 2017, parrainé par l’Université
d’Ulster, campus Magee.

Connections and Reconnections in Irish Studies

CAIS conferences are wide-ranging interdisciplinary events which provide an exciting meeting place for scholars, artists, writers, and performers. In 2017 the conference is coming to the historic plantation city of Derry in Northern Ireland. A major Atlantic Port, Derry was the point of embarkation for many thousands of Irish emigrants heading to colonial North America before the 19th century. Yet it retained strong Canadian connections after that.

What we are looking for

We seek papers covering from any aspect of any discipline within Irish Studies. We also hope to have a strand which expressly addresses the interconnections between Canada and Ulster, whether historical, literary, artistic or performative. The conference will feature a walking tour of the city walls, music, drama, and recitals. We will complete the events with a gala dinner in the heart of the historical walled city of Derry. We wish to encourage papers in English, French and Irish, supported by a booklet of abstracts that will be in English.
